At six thirty most evenings, the mass of mountains known as the Dolomiti Lucane, or Basilicata’s version of the Dolomites, turn from blue to pink - it’s a spectacular sight - and clients can have grandstand views of this phenomenon from the lovely spacious terrace at Casa dei Ricordi.  Located high at 860 metres above sea level, this agriturismo originated from a 12th century Benedictine monastery, and is a haven of peace at altitude. Surrounded by gently sloping fields and ringed by mountains, in a word, it is seclusion. 

Of the two apartments, we are delighted to have secured the better one, in our opinion. Completely refurbished from top to bottom, it features vaulted ceilings and stone cornices.  The owners are worth a mention too, because we could not have hoped to come across more friendly, hospitable and informative people. They are passionate about what they do and they even offer one free short cooking course* during which participants shop or pick their own ingredients, and learn to cook delicious local dishes.
The agriturismo has two beautiful vaulted stone restaurants serving all three main meals if clients do not wish to cook - they’re even in the 2004 Michelin Italia Guide.

A shared swimming pool measuring 12m x 6m and 1.4m deep is available for guests use

Location

The nearest town is Trivigno 4 kilometres away with some shops, or the regional capital of Potenza is about 32 kilometres away and possesses all the essential shops, restaurants, banks and chemists.   Nearby is the attraction 'Flight of the Angel' where it is possible to travel by zipwire between the villages of Castelmezzano and Pietrapertosa - a truly unique experience!

Swimming pool open between 15th May and 30th September (weather permitting).
