General

Reminiscent of a bygone era, this beautifully renovated villa has been carefully restored to her former glory to offer a high standard of holiday accommodation on this wonderful stretch of the Italian coastline.

In 2006, the extremely attentive owners created just 8 apartments across four floors to provide a spacious and comfortable stay, all with either a garden, balcony or roof terrace.  And perched 180m
above sea level, there are of course breathtaking views over the gulf of Tigullo and across the Ligurian Sea.

Greeted on entry with a small reception area, there is a computer for all guests to use free of charge.  For anything else you may need during your stay or for transfers and excursions, the owner and general house keeper are always at hand.

Full of character, each apartment is different in size and aspect although all kitchens are well equipped with a gas or electric hob, fridge with freezer or icebox, dishwasher and small electric oven.  There is internet connectivity (via cable – not WiFi)  throughout and there is one parking space allocated to each apartment.

These delightful apartments offer a peaceful and rather tranquil seaside spot, located off a small piazza and with just one quaint and traditional restaurant serving up the local catch of the day.

Location

Liguria is the slender strip of coastline that stretches from Tuscany up to the French border and has attracted sun-seekers from all over Europe for well over a century.  These glamorous seaside towns reminiscent of 1950’s film set elegance, is home to the ‘belle époque’ with villages such as San Remo and Portofino.

Genoa the capital, sits central to the Ligurian coastline.  To the west of the city (western Riviera) is known as Riviera di Ponente and includes the famous resort of San Remo.  Heading south towards Tuscany, lies Riviera di Levante and includes the Cinque Terre and the celebrity hideaway harbour town of Portofino.

Lemeglio is a beautiful little village right in the heart of the Ligurian coastline, so an ideal spot to set up camp and explore the rather special Italian Riviera. Many take a walk to nearby Mongelia, although for those who prefer to conserve their energies there is a bus that runs every 2 hours (during the summer season) and costs €1.20 each way* and there is also a small local restaurant in walking distance (not suitable for children).  It is just a 20 minute train ride to Monte Rosso (closest to the Cinque Terre) and 40 minutes to the town of Riomaggiore, each stop just a few minutes away from the beach.

The beach is home to the sun-seeker and the sportsmen with activities to keep all ages busy including sailing, diving and rafting.  There is also a whole host of trekking trails and mountain bike and climbing enthusiasts that swarm to this region each year.

The Cinque Terre is five perilously perched villages atop a short stretch of cliff-face and is a both a national park and protected marine area and appears on the UNESCO World Heritage list.  It is extremely popular with hikers and those who appreciate natural beauty, drawing large numbers in the summer season.

But Liguria is also rich in cultural experience; Genoa is a city rich in art and home to the famous art college Musei di Strada Nuova.  The medieval old town is actually the largest in Europe and is a labyrinth of alleyways, 16th Century Palazzos, shops, restaurants and Romanesque churches.

The region has a stunning artistic heritage in the shape of the Ligurian craftsmen skilled in making products that have stood the test of time.  Lace, embroidery and macramé from Portofino, silk damask from the Zogli area and from the small village of Pietrabruna the ancient essence of lavender.
