General
Casa Laura is one of the most historic buildings in Sant'Agata, in fact it was built in the second half of the 700 and was built as a house for non-resident landowners. Whilst over the course of time most of the land has been allocated to other uses, thankfully the building has never undergone major structural changes and remains testimony to the rural architecture of the time. The location is central and within walking distance to the bus stop for buses to Sorrento, Positano and Marina del Cantone.
Location
Bustling Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi provides all the necessary shops, banks, chemist and some fine restaurants. The nearest beache is just 8 kilometres away. The Mediterranean scrubland dominates the coastline along with rocky faces with the colours and the typical aromas of broom, myrtle, valerian, rosemary and carob-tree. The views are charming and very impressive. A network of paths, stretching for about 100 km runs through Massalubrense, the neighbouring Municipalities and the Lattari Mountains overlooking the Amalfi coast, covering the entire area.
Layout
Casa Laura is on three levels: The court, the floor and the attic floor.
The spacious courtyard (patio) is accessed either through the large and remote controlled sliding gate that enters directly into the parking area, or through the large door decorated with stone arch typical of the ‘700.
Between the parking and the courtyard there is a brick paved deck area with pergola, furnished with tables and chairs. All areas share the courtyard.
First floor:
From the courtyard 22 stairs leads to first floor and to Casa Laura - Nobile
- 3 double bedrooms (one of which has a private balcony overlooking the courtyard with views of the village and is furnished with table and chairs).
- 3 showers rooms with WC etc.
- Dining room furnished with antique furniture and adjoining the kitchen
- Kitchen equiped with electric oven, 4 gas ring hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine
- The entrance hallway is spacious and furnished with antique furniture and a beautiful iron table carved marble.
The owner, who for years had her own cooking school, offers guests, on request, one or more cooking classes at a cost of Euro 40.00 per person per lesson including appetizer, first course, main dish and dessert.
Although Casa Laura has off road parking, the access road is very narrow and not recommended for larger cars. A public car park is available a short walk away, however.
For parties of up to 14 people, a second apartment is also available. Please see below:
