Like walking into a secret garden, that’s how it feels when arriving at Villa La Cantina. Concealed behind a dilapidated building with a formidable double door, this property has a lovely hidden garden, strewn with pot plants, palm trees and cacti. A paved central courtyard, and venerable old olive tree, divides our ground floor accommodation from the owners’ residence the other side.   A well-maintained lawn abuts an above ground swimming pool measuring 5,50m x 5,50m with a depth of 1,50m. And as you would naturally expect, this Eden is hidden away among vineyards but with spectacular far-reaching views of Mt. Etna. The town of Linera is about a 200 metre walk away providing the essential shops, banks and chemists, thus allowing guests more time to enjoy that garden.

Location

Standing on a terrace of lava overlooking the Ionian Sea, in the midst of citrus orchards, the nearest major town is Acireale around 10 minutes drive away, for the more adventurous. For centuries a spa town with sulphur baths and a jewel of Baroque architecture; for the children, the Teatro dei Pupi, is well-known for its classic Sicilian puppet shows. Sea swimming is 7 kilometres at Pozzillo.
Parking is just outside the double-door entrance. Through the doors a short covered passage leading out to the courtyard with Villa La Cantina straight ahead. Left is the above ground swimming pool. Next to the front door, a covered outside eating and cooking area overlooking the courtyard and garden with table, chairs, sink, gas stove and barbecue.
