By car
We can arrange your channel crossing by Eurotunnel or ferry from
most British ports.
When planning your journey, please give consideration to the following:
• the journey time from your home to your departure point,
allowing time for possible delays.
• the journey time on the continent, allowing time for delays
and breaks, and remember the one-hour time difference with the UK.
• double-check your route before you travel (for example,
the closure of the Mont Blanc tunnel between France and Italy during
2001).
• traffic can be heavy especially in the peak summer months
and Saturdays are usually the busiest days.
• remember arrival time at your chosen property is between
16.00 and 19.00 hours, and checkout is before 10.00 a.m.
• you may choose the slower, more scenic roads or the faster
option of the AutoRoute/Autostrada. On the latter, remember there
are toll charges in France and Italy and for Switzerland there is
a one-off annual Motorway use charge, payable when you enter the
country.
Now the quickest and most convenient way of crossing the Channel.
Light, bright, spacious, clean and very, very fast. Those who have
used it wouldn’t now travel any other way because the whole
system is so user friendly. For an extra cost, we can upgrade you
to Club Class which gives you the benefits of :
• Express check-in and boarding
• Exclusive use of the Club Lounge including use of telephone
and fax, newspapers & messaging service (between 06.00 and 22.00
hours)
• Fast track shopping outlet with selected products
• Bureau de Change
(UK only)
• Complimentary breakfast or light meal
Driving in Italy
Be prepared to drive on the right and in most cases, give
way to the right. Seat belts are compulsory in the front and rear,
and children should be properly restrained. It is essential to have
a warning triangle in case of breakdown. The speed limit in town
is 50kms per hour, 90kms per hour on normal roads and on motorways,
110kms per hour in cars up to 1099cc, and 130kms per hour for more
powerful vehicles. Tolls operate on all motorways and accept cash
and major credit cards in most cases.
