Planning A Uni Reunion? Choose From our Villas in Italy!

The Brief

What better place for now grown up students to enjoy a university reunion than Italy? We were very excited when Mrs Green called up with her request. She is looking for one of our villas in Italy that would be suitable for 5 friends who first met at university, and their spouses. The group are now in their 50s and are looking for a classic Italian holiday with great food, wine and culture too.

Our Suggestion

The first villa that comes to mind for Mrs Green has to be one of our most beautiful villas in Italy, the 17th century Villino San Remigio in Verbania, complete with its own Catholic Chapel. Right on the shores of Lake Maggiore, this villa combines understated elegant architecture with tranquil surroundings and fabulous views from porticos that date back to the baroque period. Almost monumental in its stature, the villa has stunning high ceilings and rooms furnished with authentic antiques. Throughout it exudes a sense of comfort and, with all the mod cons, has every ingredient for a relaxing holiday.

Italy’s stunning Lake Maggiore has been the inspiration for many a writer, poet and artist. Some of the grandest and most ornate villas in Italy line the shores here and are evidence of the high-class, sophisticated set that once frequented the area. In the middle of the lake are the Borromean Islands, owned by the Milanese family of the same name. They are all private but accessible for day trips by water taxi. The majestic palace on Isola Bella, full of fabulous artistic treasures is highly recommended, as well as the beautifully designed gardens of Isola Madre which were inspired by those of a stately English residence. Isola Pescatori is the place to go for a superb seafood dinner.

All along the lakeshores are other points of interest and there are plenty of walks, places to bike, villas to visits and gardens to explore. With fabulous restaurants on the doorstep and Milan only an hour’s drive away, Villino San Remigio is in the ideal location.
