Lianne got in touch with us about staying in one of our villas in Italy in Liguria. She has recently retired and she and her husband, along with son and daughter-in-law, are really keen to visit the Cinque Terre, somewhere she had heard plenty about but never visited.
Casa Dei Limoni was the first of our villas in Italy that came to mind, as it offers a wonderful place from which to explore Liguria. Beautifully located, high on the hillside overlooking the stunning town of Bonassola and the coast, the villa boasts lush gardens, an outdoor dining area and plenty of space for unwinding and soaking up the sunshine. Views are simply stunning and inside the property you are blessed with bright rooms, elegant furnishings and a homely atmosphere.
We would certainly recommend vising the pretty town of Bonassola, which is only a short walk away. Gorgeous piazzas throng with friendly locals and streets are lined with lovely cafes, craft shops and restaurants that serve some of the most delicious seafood prepared in typical Ligurian style.
A journey to the fabulous UNESCO World Heritage area of the Cinque Terre only takes 15 minute by train and you can explore the five charming towns, walking between all or some of them on the well marked paths. This is, however, a real hike and involves lots of up and down so good footwear and a determined disposition is required! Alternatively you can take the train or even the boat that offers beautiful views of the coastline and its picture postcard towns.
Liguria is often overlooked in favour of Tuscany but stay in one of our villas in Italy located here and you can enjoy the coastline, take a trip to Genoa with its medieval history and artistic heritage, and shop for lace, embroidery and macramé from Portofino or ancient essence of lavender from Pietrabruna.
