Villa Tropicale in Castellammare del Golfo, Sicily by Cottages to Castles

Villas in Sicily Are Perfect for Spring Sunshine

The Brief

We had a call last week from a lady who wants to book one of our villas in Sicily for herself, her husband and another couple. They are all teachers and need to go in the holidays but want to avoid the heat of July and August. They are looking to go in March/April but want it to be warm enough so that they can eat outside and still enjoy some warm weather.

Our Suggestion

Villas in Sicily are the ideal accommodation option for this group of friends and our Villa Tropicale, named after its exotic garden, is the perfect choice. With gorgeous design features, stunning grounds with BBQ area and covered veranda that are made for al fresco dining and a large swimming pool, this villa is private, quiet and typically Sicilian. Cosy, yet elegant, the villa boasts vaulted ceilings, a corner fireplace and a grand winding staircase. Bedrooms each have a balcony and the views are truly picturesque.

Villa Tropicale, which is one of our favourite villas in Sicily, is located on the Northwest coast in Castellammare del Golfo, the ideal location for exploring. The pretty fishing town itself is charming and has plenty to discover. Famous for its combination of Norman and Arabic architecture, the town has a castle, a museum and lots of bustling cafes and restaurants.

From the town you can enjoy boat trips along the coast or long walks in the surrounding Zingaro National Park, but if you hire a car and want to explore further afield, you can head to Trapani with its restored Cattedrale di San Lorenzo, Erice, the stunning medieval hilltop town overlooking the bay, the magnificent Greek temple of Segesta and Palermo, the vibrant capital city that is full to bursting with monuments, museums and other fascinating things to see and do. From the Teatro Massimo to the cathedral, this city is one you could spend a full day in and still not see everything.
