May we introduce you to this month’s Italian events . . . . .

As Italy’s resorts, towns and cities begin welcoming its tourists, the months become jam-packed with festivals, sport and entertainment.  Here’s my pick of the bunch this month. . . . .


Eurochocolate, Perugia (14 – 23 Oct)
For all things chocolate, this annual festival is a haven for chocolate lovers who flock from all over the globe to experience Eurochocolate.  Perugia, famed for its bitter-sweet chocolate and hazelnut blend – Bacio Perugina, is now also hosting Play Chocolate, a week of chocolate antics, music and competitions throughout the city.

Where to stay?  A warm welcome awaits you at Casa Francescana nestled amongst the evergreen trees and only 6km from Umbertide.  From £19 pppn sleeping up to four guests, and Casa Francescana 2 sleeping up to 6 guests from £13 pppn.


Pompeii’s Moon, Naples (throughout October)
For those who haven’t yet marvelled at the lost city, then this is a true and powerful way to experience Pompeii – by moonlight.  Relieve the history during a guided tour through the ruins, whilst key episodes of the disaster are brought back to life with the help of special effects.

Yogafestival (14 – 16 Oct)

For her ........ This annual event will once more fill the SuperstudioPiu in Milan where both professional and amateurs are invited to attend workshops, seminars, classes, demonstrations whilst experts are on hand with information and advice.


Vinilmania (15 – 16 Oct)

And for him ...... This world renowned record fair now sees record buffs and collectors descend upon Milan from all over the globe.  Held at Parco Esposizioni Novegro the vinyl-mad swap cult LP’s and 45’s, attend presentations and take part in discussions.

Where to stay?  Set in its own private park, the elegant home of Villa Renate in the town of Viggiu lies near to Lakes Maggiore and Varese and accessible to the style capital Milan too.  From £38 pppn based on 6 guests.


Wine & Fashion, Florence (October)
This festival celebrates the two things that Italians love the most – wine and fashion!  Wine estates and fashion designers come together at Florence’s Palazzo Medici Riccardi to present their best creations yet.  So if you enjoy a good Barolo or you know your polka dots from your pin-stripes then this festival is a great experience set in a fantastic building in the Renaissance capital.
