Cuore Antico is a charming little haven nestled in the heart of Bellagio. A home from home, this comfortable 55 sq.mt one bedroom apartment with an inner terrace is located on the ground floor of a delightful building in Salita Cernaia; one of the flights of steps of Bellagio leading directly down to the lake. Whilst we recommend that on arrival clients pay to go into a car park in order to unload their car, at other times free parking is available within easy walking distance of the property.
Location
Salita Cernaia is home to some of the best pizzerias and local cafe shops and close to the prestigious Grand Hotel Serbelloni. From here in any direction, the neighbourhood offers a whole array of trattorias, pizzerias, cafe bars and unique little boutiques offering some of the most delicious olive oil, wines and cheeses. The lake and indeed a variety of other things to see and do are all on hand to enjoy and explore; villas with spectacular gardens, beaches, historic churches and sport clubs.
Bellagio is located on the tip of the promontory which divides the lake between Como and Lecco. One of the most famous and stately destinations in the area it gives way to some of the most spectacular vistas on the lake. Over the centuries poets and writers have attempted to capture the beauty and majesty of Bellagio in their works, yet none of them have ever quite seemed to do it justice. Hosting some of the greats Bellagio has been the inspiration for Byron, Liszt, Stendhal, Verdi, Shelley, Goethe and Dickens.
Classical villas, and especially their gardens, recall slow-moving ladies with long frocks and parasols. The cobbled streets really require a duke or two. As this past permeates the present, it unarguably adds grace to natural grandeur. Evidence that the area was favored by the aristocracy many years ago can be seen in the opulent architecture and ornate and well stocked gardens of rare plants and flowers. And then there are the villas; scattered throughout the shores and mountains alike they look like small doll houses from across the lake, up close they are magnificent examples of Italian history. Owned by the lucky few who get to wake up to the magic and mystery of Lake Como each morning, there are many villas that are available for those who wish to visit and explore for a slice of the Dolce Vita.
Ferries link all major villages and towns of Lake Como, providing both a good form of public transportation and a great way to see the lake. Hop on the ferry for a trip to Tremezzo to the Villa Carlotta, the most famous villa on the lake Carlotta, has a perfect combination of luxurious interiors and luxuriant exteriors with inspiration and examples from all over the world.. Or venture a little further to Menaggio; a picturesque harbour with the old and 'new', the shops, restaurants, cafes, public squares and alleyways, the tree shaded lakeshore promenades bordered by flowers, and the well-kept villas form a wonderful and serene place to holiday.
There are a whole host of traditional and historic events taking place throughout the year on the lake, including the famous Sagra de San Giovanni, which is held on the last weekend of June. The main attraction comes after sundown when hundreds of floating lamps are cast onto the lake.
If there is anything more romantic than watching the light reflecting on the water and mountains attenuated whilst enjoying a glass of red, I am certain it will be in another lifetime.
