August 2014 "...We had a wonderful stay at CASA SANT’ARCANGELO, the villa is truly lovely and the owners Giacomo and Vita equally so. We stayed as a couple, but it would work just as well for a small family or two couples. The inside space is quite small but perfectly functional and the outside is glorious with a lovely pool. The villa sits in a large olive grove so it is very private, you can see a single trullo above the hedge line. St Michele Salentino is a nice traditional town, with a number of good (and very reasonable) restaurants. The town is by no means beautiful by Italian standards, but it feels like a ‘proper’ place and the locals are very friendly. Not much English is spoken, but that’s part of the fun. It’s a good 25 minute walk to town, or a few minutes drive. We hope to return. "

August 2014 "...We were very happy with the property. The gardens are extensive and beautifully maintained and the pool is a good size and depth. I would say that the house is probably not very suitable for two couples or four adults as there is only one bathroom and no separate toilet. The house is well equipped and the owners were friendly and helpful (the wife spoke very good English). A DVD player would be a welcome addition to the house. Pool towels were provided in addition to bathroom towels. I would recommend this house for a couple or family and would recommend it to friends. "

August 2011 "...Good, well-equipped house in a quiet location but within walking distance of the small town of San Michele. But the real pleasure was the pool and garden - extensive gardens, beautifully maintained and with fresh fruit to pick from the trees. Also, a very large covered terrace (recently built and so not yet in the photos), which since it was extremely hot, we made good use of. We had a great time, and really appreciated the very warm welcome from the owners, and their advice and suggestions. We'd certainly like to go back. "

June 2010 "...Lovely villa with lovely pool and gardens. Martina Franca was beautiful and Alberobello is a must (Trulli town). Taranto was very busy and crowded. Ostuni is lovely and Cigele (Trattoria in square is an experience). Very welcoming and always helpful (we had a problem with the water and it was fixed with one phone call). Beautiful area. We saw it on bikes. Funny restaurants, a lot without menu's but good food - local and fresh fish."

"...Beautiful comfortable house with lovely grounds. Brilliantly situated to lots of interesting places to visit. We enjoyed visiting Martina Franca, the Trullis at Alberobello and Ostuni. Although we had a long journey to the southern tip it was worth it and there was some beautiful scenery on the coastal road back to Orbranto. Enjoyed our visit to the local market on Thursday where you can buy lots of local produce. Vita and Giacomo were very ehlpful and quick to sort out any problems. We had a good restful two weeks. Thank you."

August 2010 "...Thank you Giacomo for the basket of food and wine - very welcoming. We love your garden, especially the figs. Local shops are great and much better than a big supermarket - fresh bread and pasta and all the meat and veg you need and local people always happy to talk (even in our bad Italian). Festival in Ciglie on 17th August including parade with flag throwers, music and acrobats plus big fireworks - same time every year. Lily Forbes (13) - wonderful time in a beautiful garden, pool and villa. Had a great time taking photos of wildlife and flowers trying exotic fruit and catching lizards. Lovely restaurant in Locorotondo call Il Curdern with lovely food including fresh porcini and incredibly soft and delicious veal. Thank you."

July 2010. "...Lovely Trulli home with stunning grounds and pool. Well equipped with everything we could need. Loved travelling and discovering Puglia - very different to the other regions in Italy we have been to. Ostuni and Alberobello were stunning - lots of great shops and friendly locals. The Zoo safari at Fasano - what a wonderful experience for us all. Brindisi market on Thursday was great once we found it. We enjoyed our week. "

August 2011 "...We very much appreciated your help after our car incident within 10 minutes of arriving at San Michele. Everthing would have been much worse without your assistance with the carabinieri. As for Casa Sant'Arcangelo, we had a lovely, peaceful time. The house is perfect for our needs. The pool is perfect and the weather has been perfect. Locortondo was our favourite place to visit and spend some time. Alberobello was very busy. Cinacete was a lovely beach - best of all. However, we loved being beside the pool, eating your figs, your prickly pears and your grapes. It was a lovely stay. Thank you once again. "

August 2010 "...Flight to Bari arrived at 8:00pm, Vita and Giacoma were pleased to meet us at 11.15pm with wine and food to welcome us. Excellent accommodation for 4 adults (lazy ones). Pool, gardens, figs and grapes were all appreciated and taken full advantage of. Ostuni - a 'must' visit. Old town full of narrow streets with excellent fish restaurants. Ristorante La Reggia via Cathedrale - swordfish - first class with vegetables - Euro 95 for 4 of us hungry adults + wine - only negative was loud tv. Il Casolare was also very good. Alberobello was also worth a visit. A really good week. Many thanks."

September 2010 "...This house with its pool and gardens has just been perfect for a peaceful relaxing holiday - just what we needed. We enjoyed cycle rides and the country lanes and BBQs with fish from the San Michele percherie and veg from the market. The old quarters of the local towns are lovely to stroll through morning or evening. Eating out - lots of places at the seaside are now closed for the season, in general people eat late around 8.30 - 9pm. Thanks Vita and Giacomo and congratulations on the arrival of baby Samantha."

October 2010. "...This house has been an excellent base for a week spent learning about Puglia. We have visited many of the old towns and particularly liked Lecce but were saddened by the derelict buildings in Taranto. The new town is lovely. We enjoyed the Sarari Park (once we found it). The weather has been against us but nevertheless we enjoyed the lovely garden and the pool. We have had some good meals both 'in' and 'out'. We found Il Casolare good value and delicious. We had a problem with the water but a phone call to Vita and it was quickly repaired. Thank you from us all."

June 2010 "...First class accommodation. Beautiful villa.Lovely pool and surrounds. We had a brilliant time and the villa surpassed our expectations. It suited our purposes perfectly - it enabled us to explore this part of Puglia by car and bike. We found the area unspoilt and friendly and very Italian (but you know all this) - the food great and sandy beaches too numerous to count. Variety in food and styles in every town. The owners were really friendly and helpful (after our initial issues) but we understand why it was difficult."

September 2008 "...Thank you Giacomo and Vita for letting us stay at your beautiful rustico and for really left like being at home We are going to miss sitting by the pool admiring the beautiful garden, finishing the day with a glass of chilled limoncello. Can recommend the gardens chilli, basil, grapes, rosemaryand figs!would love to take home the two bonsay olive trees! Recommended restaurants in San Michele 'Il Brigantino' delicious fish plates, 'Il Casolare' very good restaurant especially for typical apulian/Italian plates, the antipasto is a delight! If in Ostuni try the 'Taverna della Gelosia'. Thank you once again, hopefully we will be back....."

July 2009 "...Villa (Trulli!) and pool very comfortable and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay which was a contrastto the previous week up in Tuscany (nice but different). Coastline between Bari and Otranto nice, but Gulf of Taranto more interesting. Generally people seem to be friendly, welcoming and helpful. Restaurants to recommend in San Michele Salentino: Il Casolare-excellent meat for incredibly good value; Il Brigantino- superb fish restaurant (but nothing for the carnivores). Chef for maitre (Mrs.chef!) very friendly and helpful. Not as inexpensive as Il Casolare but still decent value. Thanks Vita for your hospitality! Ciao!"

August 2008 "...We loved the house particularly the beautifully landscaped and carefully looked after outside area and the pool. The caves at Castellana are amazing if you fancy two day out, we also enjoyed the beach at Marina di Pulsano. We went to the lido called 'Fata Morgana' which was a briliant option especially with children. It's got toilets, showers, a little shaded playground as well as of course sand and sea! Thank you Vita!"

September 2008 "...A lovely villa and absolutely perfect for just two people. We have very much enjoyed our stay although we wish the weather could have been a bit better! We found an excellent restaurant in Ostuni 'Osteria del tempo perso? and thoroughly recommend it for delicious food and friendly service, but you do need to book."

August 2009 "...After a sightseeing on the Amalfi Coast, it was great to have a more relaxing week in a villa with a pool, such as CASA SANT'ARCANGELO. Although it had been our intention to have 'days out' at the coast , we found ourselves lounging around the pool instead with a constant supply of cold drinks at hand! We did visit Alberobello and Ostuni and visited Lecce the day of our departure. It has been very hot this week and the breeze/wind that we had in the latter part of the week was very welcome. The villa and facilities have been great an 'oasis'."
