September 2014 "...No major problems and any small difficulties we had were immediately remedied by the owner. The owners were also very friendly and attentive despite the language barrier, (they speak little English whilst our party spoke little Italian). The Villa is somewhat remote, however, as stated in the brochure it is ideal if you want a quite week away, we had initial difficulty meeting up with the owner as some of the Italian road signs are a bit misleading. 10th August 2014 "...Dear Sarah We had a brilliant time at Villa Pettineo and Gio Franco was an excellent host and made sure that every day we had all we needed including take us into Pettineo to get our food shopping as we had no car and would not have been able to get ourselves. Gio also arranged for the vegetable and fruit van and another day the fish van to come to the villa especially for us. He was very attentive to our needs and provided an excellent welcome on our arrival. I highly recommend the villa as it is in a lovely setting with Pettineo being a very pretty and traditional village. The pool in the villa was perfect and was glorious as had a 360 view of the surrounding mountains and very peaceful. The villa was charming as it had a story and history and felt so homely with all the family pictures, great paintings and unusual object d'art. We would highly recommend a holiday there as you will be very spoilt, very comfortable and well looked after. I would be happy for you to use any of the above as a testimonial. Many thanks. Kind regards Sarah "

September 2012 "...Hi Don I could not put any info in the form you sent me so thought I would send a separate email. We had a wonderful time at the villa… On the first night the owners met us at midnight at the exit of the motorway nearest to the villa and escorted us to the villa. Where in NZ would that ever happen! Secondly they were very hospitable and on the next night invited us to their restaurant for dinner. We did not realise that the restaurant was actually closed that night and specially opened for us. One only complaint was that the shower in one bathroom was hopeless and we had to use the outside shower room. Apart from that we would recommend it highly. We loved the location on the outskirts of the village which was totally not touristy and the attitude of the owners to be as helpful as possible. Thank you for organising it for us Carol Anderson "

August 2012 "...Hi Sarah, Thanks for the opportunity to offer feedback. It was great doing business with Cottages to Castles and we appreciated your help during our stay. From what the owner explained we understand that we were the first visitors to Villa Pettineo. The villa in lots of ways was absolutely wonderful and Frank was very helpful (for example when we had a puncture) however there are aspects that could be improved on, particularly for the price bracket. The comments that we made between ourselves during our stay were: • The location is beautiful and unspoilt • Not a Brit in sight ( a good thing!) • Great little villages and locals very happy to help • Shops and restaurants reasonably priced • Coast easy access and not busy • Good size traditional villa • Outside space good size, well stocked with furniture and shade • Frank the owner helpful and pleasant (and did not charge for extras/electricity) • Road system easy to navigate • No information on places of interest, facilities, restaurants etc • Electricity supply restricted for several days but eventually worked around (fixed?) • Twin room no direct aircon and very basic (but benefits from kitchen aircon unit if leave doors open) • Pool not kept clean (had to figure out and operate pool cleaner ourselves) • A mid stay change of bed linen would have been appreciated • Coat hangers were scarce and the wardrobe in one upstairs bedroom had no rail • Kitchen crockery great but only 1 sharp knife and plastic glasses for outside would have been useful • Hot water was hit and miss and the shower curtains did not reach the shower bases and so water escaped Frank did go out of his way to make us feel welcome and (as much as the language barrier allowed) helped us. We were treated to a super meal on the first evening however it has to be said that it would not be for everybody as we were the only ones at the restaurant and had to work through the language issues. For us it was quite fun, but some people may find this awkward and prefer a welcome meal in the house perhaps. We were pleased that we were not charged for the extras, including the electricity usage. For the pricetag, if we're honest we're not sure whether the villa is quite up to scratch in terms of some of the points listed above. Lots of wow factors but equally some frustrations that could easily be rectified. Overall our holiday was a great opportunity to sample true Scilian life in a charming location. I hope this feedback helps and am happy to talk it through if you would like. Kind regards, Julie"
