july 2014 "...As for the Apartment Torre,it was excellent. The estate was gorgeous & the setting very handy-easy walk into castellini & the bike hire at the end of the road very convenient! The owners were lovely & ever so friendly-shame we didn't speak any Italian & they didn't speak any english-but it was manageable with a phrase book. The welcome pack was very generous & included a bottle of the estate wine & the estate olive oil, which was great. The house was nice & perfectly well equipped. The sitting out area was good & there was enough space that the other guests in the other houses ,all had their own areas. The pool was brilliant & a great size for a holiday house pool. if we were being ultra critical, the tv was old & only had limited channels - we are not great tv watchers ,but would have liked to get Wimbledon! The coverage of world cup & tour de france that we could access was limited . Also we did n't think there was internet( but we didn't actually ask,so maybe there was) In all a great holiday & we would be happy to recommend the accomodation & indeed return. Happy for you to forward this on to 'cottages & castles'"

June 2013 "...We really enjoyed our stay at Apartment Torre in Castellini in Chianti. Apartment was clean & we were given a welcome food pack which wasn't expected. One bedroom had a low ceiling beam you had to be careful of. Living area was spacious & light. Location was excellent being a 10min walk to the village. A shame the weather wasn't hotter so we could have utilised the swimming pool more.Owner couldn't speak English & we had little Italian so this made conversing difficult. Would certainly stay here again & recommend to others. Tuscany is a beautiful place for a holiday & we will be back sometime."

August 2012 "...Torre 1 was a lovely little holiday retreat. One of four or five holiday accommodations at Il Ceretto and managed by the very friendly Giuseppe (note he doesn't speak a word of English but we managed to converse somehow and he gave us a glass of his very delicious Chianti on arrival which was fab!) The apartment was part of an old stone farmhouse with thick walls which kept out most of the heat, which at times was intense in August. There was one fan in one bedroom, but it would have been nice to have a couple more. The apartment is rustic and quite basic, with a kitchen cum dining room cum living room which was largely dominated by a huge fireplace and farmhouse table. It is adequately stocked with cutlery and crockery. There is no microware or dishwasher which would be considered the norm in the UK but it is Italy and is kitted out accordingly. The apartment was very clean on arrival and the bedsheets and towels were changed once a week. Outside we had a patio table with parasol and to be honest we ate all of our meals there. The swimming pool is beautifully set with views across the vineyards to Castellina. There are plenty of loungers and parasols provided. One of the greatest strengths of the holiday home is it's proximity to Castellina in Chiant which is a 1km walk up a dirt track to reach. Note it is "up" but is "down" on the way back. In Castellina there are a number of good restaurants/ pizzerias and Geleterias and a good Coop form where we sourced all of our food. Further afield, both Sienna and Florence are within easy reach. In summary a great value, well situated, clean and friendly place to stay. I would happily return and wholeheartedly recommend. Next time though, I'll learn some Italian so I can chat with Giuseppe! June 2010 "...We had a wonderful time in Castellina in Chianti. Guiseppe was a most courteous and friendly host. The setting was idyllic and the apartment worked really well for the four of us. Our ages range from 60 to 70, so the walk up to the town was a bit of a challenge, but always worth it. The apartment could do with more basic cooking equipment, but we still managed to do a lot of self catering and ad-libbed with what was there. The road down the hill certainly got the adrenalin going. Our hire car was an Alfa Romeo with a low front spoiler which inevitably ploughed a furrow everytime we negotiated the hill. But these downsides just accentuated the charm and fun of staying at Torre 1. Guiseppe produces a wonderful Chainti and we enjoyed a number of tastings as well as bottles. The town is in a great location. The apartment was our last stop on a 3 week tour of Italy, and we all loved our time there. It would be nice if there were more cooking utensils and a smoother lane down, but that wouldn't stop us returning to that beautiful spot in Tuscany."
