‘The best holiday we’ve ever had.’ ‘The most delightful, tranquil experience.’ Superb accommodations.’ ‘The owner, Laura, was nearly always available for advice and has such a happy personality. We all loved her.’ This is just a sampling of the heartfelt comments taken from Querceto di Castellina’s guest book. This is not our way to set unrealistic expectations about the property but Querceto is indeed a fabulous place for a wonderful holiday.
This family-run agriturismo and organic winery is nestled in the Tuscan countryside and overlooks the Querceto di Castellina vineyards high on a coveted hilltop in the heart of the Chianti Classico. A stay in one of the charmingly restored 15th century cottages at the estate offers the perfect blend for an authentic and unforgettable vacation in Toscana.
From the moment you arrive, the views beckon you to linger with a glass of their Chianti Classico out on the terrace. While at the estate, you can soak up the rolling hills all around from their LIVIA Wine & Cheese bar serving artisanal cheeses and salumi or dive into a cooking class with owner and 'chef' Laura and master the art of Tuscan cuisine. You can also learn about the beauty of Italian winemaking via a personal winery tour and tasting with the knowledgeable team at Querceto.
Laura will prepare a traditional Tuscan dinner once a week for a minimum of 8 guests (35 EUR/person). The day of the dinner varies week-to-week so reservations can be made upon arrival.
The cottages are comfortably spaced out across the grounds and the entire estate is immaculately clean and tidy. Each cottage features Tuscan-inspired décor, a cozy fireplace, a kitchen and an outdoor patio for relaxing and taking in the natural beauty of the surroundings.
Querceto has a saltwater swimming pool (12m x 6m), a play area for children and table tennis making it ideal for a family vacation. Mountain bikes can be hired on site and there is a laundry room and a barbecue for everyone to use. Free WIFI connectivity is available throughout the property. Hairdryers and swimming pool towels are also supplied for guests’ convenience.
Wines can be purchased at their wine shop and guests enjoy a special discount.
Querceto di Castellina is only a 10 minutes drive from the lovely hilltop town of Castellina in Chianti where there are quaint boutique shops, a supermarket, banks and a number of great restaurants. Panzano is also nearby and is well known not only for its beautiful hilltop location but also for its world famous butcher Dario Cecchini, standout restaurants and extremely popular Sunday market.
Florence and Siena are about an hour away for some incomparable city sightseeing. The small walled medieval hill-town of San Gimignano is another “must” see, especially for first time visitors to the area.
