Wander..... amongst the cool natural shade of the tree canopy; Cypress, olive and fruit trees.  Admire ...... the loving care and attention that has been taken over the years to create such immaculate lush lawns of green.  Explore ....... the parkland and find its hidden swimming pool, urns brimming with lavender, of every variety of flower, colour and scent.  And enjoy ...... your stay at this typical stone built Italian villa nestled amongst the wooded hillsides and vineyards of Tuscany.

Welcome to Le Selvole, through large secure wrought iron gates the entire parkland is secure and fenced in.  However, it is the views that surround this parkland that truly take your breath away.  Olive groves, sweeping green hillsides and the organised rows of vineyards as far as the eye can see wrap around the estate.  Peek through the trees and you will see the sun gleam from the nearby town of Radda and village of Volpaia.

Le Selvole offers simple, rustic Italian living within six independent apartments.    A cool retreat, each apartment characteristically benefits from high ceilings, tiled floors and large windows to let in the Tuscan sunshine.  Each apartment sleeps between 2 to 4 guests, all have independent entrances and dedicated al fresco dining areas.

For those who wish to enjoy the great outdoors, the 14 x 7 meter swimming pool and terrace area offers a wonderful spot to while away the hours.  When creating Le Selvole, the accommodating owners have considered every guest’s need with a wonderful stone built changing room and outside shower, a brick built barbecue and wood burning pizza oven.

When you do decide to explore further than the wonderful parkland that surrounds Le Selvole, the medieval hilltop town of Radda is just 3kms away and can actually be seen through the tall wistful Cypress trees that surround the estate itself.  Ensconced between the valleys of Pesa and Arbia, it is 530m above sea level and affords some of the most wonderful views across the Tuscan wooded hillsides and vineyards.  Dating back to the 14th Century, it is well preserved and the ancient walls that fortified this town can still be seen and admired.

Look closely and you can also see the tranquil little village of Volpaia from the estate.  This fortified village was once home to the famous dell Volpaia, the clock and instrument makers.  Its vernacular architecture and quiet little streets is a popular day out and well known for its delightful choice of three restaurants that welcome Italians and tourists alike.

San Gimignano lies nearby, famous for its number of formidable towers, it is a remarkable sight to bestow as it perches upon the hilltop.  Dating back to the 10th Century, its medieval character has been preserved most wonderfully.

Just a little further afield is the town of Greve right in the heart of the Chianti Classico wine region and is home to the largest wine fair in Chianti held every September.   Wine tours and tasting experiences sweep as far as the eye can see.  The landscapes surrounding Greve offer some quite literally breathtaking hikes through the Monte San Michele Nature Park, but also pleasant strolls for those a little less adventurous!

Le Selvole is an ideal base to explore the region with Siena approximately 30km, Florence just 50km and Arezzo 57km.  Siena is one of the most unspoilt medieval cities in Italy with treasures scattered throughout its churches and museums.  Beautiful gothic buildings combine with large open squares for the best Italian past time - people watching.  During the 14th Century the Sienese School of Painting produced masterpieces from the likes of Pietro, Lorenzetti and Martini and now housed and marvelled at in the Pinacoteca, the Palazzo Pubblico and the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo.

For those who love the artworks of the Renaissance period, Florence the home of the Renaissance itself, has flourished since the 15th Century as a city of art, culture and international trading.  Home to some of Italy’s most greatest artistic treasures in the world, it is a veritable banquet with the likes of Michelangelo, Da Vinci and Raphael pieces, to name but a few.  Our suggestions would be the Cathedral, the Uffizi, the Palace of Bargello and the churches of Santa Maria Novella and Santa Croce.  The library of San Lorenzo is a wonderful exhibition of Michelangelo’s artistic genius, and the bridge of Ponte Vecchio that stretches across the Arno River - an architectural marvel.

The entrance to Olivo is found through the small reception area at Le Selvole on the ground floor.  This lovely apartment is perfect for a romantic retreat for two.  There is a sitting room and a well equipped kitchen offers a hob, oven and fridge with a small dining table for two.

There is a twin/double* bedroom and shower room.

Outside there is a beautiful terrace area with a table reserved for those staying at Olivo.

* Please advise us at the time of booking if you would like the bed made up as a twin.
