August 2015 "...Thank you for the chance to comment on our recent visit to La Verina. First, let me thank you for the cheerful and efficient way in which your company dealt with the arrangements. Nothing left to chance. Sharon and Garry were more than helpful. They were very efficient, friendly and knowledgable. It was so confidence-inspiring to have them so close at hand, for the questions that inevitably arose and as a source of local information. The villa itself was ideal for our family. Our grandsons in particular loved the garden, the woods and especially the wonderful swimming pool. The house itself had a welcoming feel, produced mainly by the way in which the owner had furnished and decorated it. There was a real sense that someone had taken care to create a space that spoke of its owner as his home, rather than a house that had been 'suitably' furnished for the rental market. The interior was comfortable, well-equipped and spacious. On the negative side, the house needs attention to some of the fittings, particularly the fly-screens and shutters. This is not a criticism; every house is subject to wind and rain, and needs renewal and refurbishment from time to time. The views to the west are absolutely stunning. The proximity of a commercial quarry, which might not be to everyone's liking, was no problem for us. Its operations are not intrusive. The stone road ,on the other hand, is a pain. We were assured that it is not particularly bad 'for Tuscany'. Perhaps the English have become too soft. Overall, the villa was lovely and great fun, and the organisation by you and by Sharon and Gerry was first rate. Thank you very much. Best wishes,"

August 2014 "...We had such a great time in your villa! The swimming pool is lovely and the view is amazing. My bed was lovely. Never had a bad night's sleep! We managed to create a home cinema using a projector and a little muscle. We thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful villa -it was amazing!"

August 2014 "...We found this a spacious and comfortable house in a very attractive remote rural setting. We loved it. It generally met our needs most satisfactorily. The site and the pool are wonderful. All beds, linen, towels etc are very good. The manager, Sharon, was very helpful. One or two points to note The kitchen appliances - cooker, oven, dishwasher - worked but are rather worn out. The pots and pans are not comprehensive – eg there are no small saucepans. The pool and the outdoor facilities are vulnerable to very strong gusts of winds which occasionally blow up the valley. All the umbrellas were blown over during our stay and the one over the outdoor dining table was broken so unfortunately our use of that in the heat became limited. A fixed metal or wooden pergola would solve the problem. We could have used more upright plastic chairs and a table by the pool. "

June 2014 "...We are very happy with the service that we received while dealing with Cottages to Castles. You answered every question that i had before the trip, with expedience and clarity, providing directions, and personal to meet and greet us on arrival, and also someone to call if we needed help. Additionally you arrange a wonderfully chef for us , Nicki Robinson, who pleased our sensual palate every night with local Tuscan organic recipes: truly a delightful personality to boot!. Further Sharon managed the facilities skillfully and filled in as a chef for a couple nights that Nicki couldn’t b e present, These 3 ladies did an amazing job, and listened to our suggestions, given with the best intentions, to improve the accommodations for the next travellers to La Verina. We love la verina. it is quaint and comfortable. just a few changes would increase the comfort of the guests in the 3 & 4 bed rooms. 1 bedside tables on either side of the bed, with working lamps on them. 2. sufficient clothes closets or dressers for 2 persons per room 3. either 1 quality queen bed or 2 singles per room, at the same height 4. screens on the windows. 5. the lane way is a bit rough. just a small list,of suggestions we totally enjoyed ourselves and will use your services again."

July 2013 "... The villa was beautiful and all it claimed to be. The pool was large and well maintained and the villa itself was very welcoming. The views across the adjacent countryside were quite breath-taking! The caretaker was in attendance on arrival and very helpful. He was able to sort out the one power problem that we had during the 2 weeks we were there and was generally a pleasure to deal with. The directions given to find the villa were a bit complicated and it might have been a good idea to say that the access road was on the same side as Knauf factory which was the reference point. Also any client arriving there should be made aware that the access road is quite rough and would be difficult for a normal small saloon car to keep going up and down. the rooms were spacious and well maintained and there were more than adequate shower rooms and toilets. We had children with us and we had to be careful about the staircase. This is not a problem a lot of clients would have but if you are accompanied by young children it is useful to be aware! The kitchen was well equipped and laid out though will probably be in need of updating soon. The dishwasher particularly had a mind of its own! It was a beautiful location from which to tour Tuscany with the nearest local town being particularly attractive. The nearest supermarket was in San Gimignano and provided all that anyone could require. I would certainly recommend the villa to other tourists! The directions and cottages to castles information were easy to understand and covered all relevant information. Maybe a DVD player in the villa would be useful as laptops make communal viewing difficult."

July 2011 "...We spent 5 glorious weeks last summer at La Verina, with all of our children and grandchildren visiting over the course of our stay. The setting is spectacular with views over the valley and to the Tuscan hills beyond. The house is spacious, airy, beautifully furnished and fully appointed and equipped. And sunsets by the pools were breathtaking. It was a perfect base for advventures throughout Tuscany and we loved having San Gimignano (and the best gelato on the world) as our local town! We would happily do it again. "

August 2011 "...As a fourth generation Italian living in London, the home country has always been a special place for me and I have visited many parts of Italy over the years for work and relaxation. But my stay at La Verina stands out as the ideal way to unwind from a busy, globe-trotting schedule that regularly takes me to the four corners of the world. I recently spent a wonderful two-week vacation at La Verina with my daughter and her college friends, as well as a professional colleague and his daughter who took over the self-sufficient cottage near to the 'big house'.

The accommodation is roomy and comfortable -- there were ten of us in all in both properties -- with generous bedrooms and bathrooms and a big kitchen/dining area all furnished in traditional Tuscan style. And the pool and surrounding terraces are perfect for lazy mornings, long days of sunbathing and wonderful Tuscan sunsets over a glass of local wine. On a practical level, there's plenty of parking and the short down-hill journey through woods from the public road guarantees unbeatable quiet.

The location is pure Tuscany: perched on a hilltop with those endless rolling hills stretching to the far horizon. And for a break from the rigours of pool-side relaxation and long al fresco Italian lunches, the beautiful medieval town of San Gimignano, the City of Towers, is just a few clicks away by car. Check out the many charming cafes, restaurants, food stores and artisan craft shops. But the big hit with our crowd was the gelateria near the main square. A sign declared it had been voted 'best ice cream in the world'. We tried it, several times, and didn't disagree for a moment. "

July 2012 "...Beautiful La Verina. Although we have previously visited many parts of Tuscany, this was our first visit to the San Gimingnano area and what a gem we found in this beautiful place! La Verina is perched half way up a hilltop in the middle of a big land area full of olive trees . It has the most picturesque views savoured from the living/dining areas and bedroom windows and the big patio /terrace overlooking the well maintained and good size swimming pool. The spaces inside were well and tastefully furnished, and took us and our friends all in very comfortably. Our children were given the separate cottage which was roomy and nice. The big kitchen and the dining room were our hub; we enjoyed preparing and having many unforgettable al fresco dinners. There was so much to explore in and around La Verina, we barely felt the need to venture elsewhere. Thank you for the best hospitality, quality and atmosphere, it was the best holiday. "
