Perfectly named, this fantastic Tuscan family home for up to six guests truly is Paradise in Chianti, whatever your age.
Surrounded by the orderly vineyards and rolling countryside of the Chianti hills, the wineries of the Gallo Nero are there to be sampled whilst the kids explore the vast gardens and discover the pool, play house & outdoor pizza oven. But the gardens aren’t just for the kids……. Dine al fresco or simply relax by the 7.5 x 4.5 metre pool under the parasol.
Chianti Paradiso is a large farmhouse which has been recently renovated and converted to provide two separate living spaces; an upper floor that accommodates four guests and a separate apartment to the lower floor for just two guests. The property is available only in its entirety and is a well-kept and comfortable home to enjoy this area of Tuscany.
Chianti Paradiso can be found in the tiny hamlet of San Sano, a quintessentially beautiful Tuscan village with a grocery store and trattoria/bar. Nearby Gaiole in Chianti boasts the Castello di Brolio, owned by the Ricasoli family who have been producing wine here since the 12th Century. Explore the gardens and on a clear day one can see across to Siena.
Gaiole forms part of the Chianti Classico region and its wine is world-renowned. The Gallo Nero (Black Rooster) is the seal on each of the DOCG bottles from this region, the symbol of the Chianti Classico Consortium that protects and promotes the wineries here.
Head north and discover Radda in Chianti, a medieval hilltop town that sits between the valleys of Pesa and Arbia. Being 530m above sea level it affords breath-taking views across the Tuscan wooded hillsides and vineyards. Dating back to the 14th Century, it is well preserved and the ancient walls that fortified this town can still be seen and admired.
If you can convince the family to leave Chianti Paradiso for the day, it is an ideal base to explore the region with Siena approximately 27kms and Florence 60kms away. Siena is one of the most unspoilt medieval cities in Italy with treasures scattered throughout its churches and museums. Beautiful gothic buildings combine with large open squares for the best Italian past time - people watching. During the 14th Century the Sienese School of Painting produced masterpieces from the likes of Pietro, Lorenzetti and Martini and now housed and marvelled at in the Pinacoteca, the Palazzo Pubblico and the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo.
For those who want to experience true medieval Italy, head to Florence and immerse yourself in historic art and architecture like nowhere else. Marvel at the sheer size and design of the green & pink marbled façade of the Duomo, see some of the most wonderful pieces of art at the Uffizi gallery by the likes of Michelangelo, Raphael and Titian and book to ensure you meet the one and only David in the Accademia. We also suggest the Palace of Bargello and the churches of Santa Maria Novella and Santa Croce.
