General
A convenient base for those who wish to truly explore and enjoy all that Southern Tuscany has to offer. Whether you are a budding sommelier and here to visit the world renowned vineyards of Brunello di Montalcino, or you are more a gastronome come to enjoy the delights of the locale, the cyclist, the walker, the historian........... Villa Tusco is ideally located for everyone to enjoy and is a comfortable and welcome return after a busy day out in the hills.
A typical Tuscan home, the owners have carefully restored Villa Tusco to provide a comfortable little haven that comprises five separate apartments (three apartments are available to guests) all individually sleeping up to four guests and set within well maintained gardens.
Each apartment is very spacious where the tradition of beamed ceilings meets with the modern needs of satellite TV and fully equipped kitchens.
Guests are welcome to enjoy the gardens with a delightful swimming pool for rest and relaxation, barbecue and pizza oven too. Bordered by a road on one side and a wine cantina used by local wine producers on the other, it is on the edge of the town itself, offering a relaxing spot to while away the hours.
Location
Although quiet and hidden away, this property is in the village of Torrenieri and therefore within walking distance to this typical Tuscan hamlet that offers all the necessities of daily life such as a bank, pharmacy, supermarket, a number of restaurants, a bar, pizzeria and a fabulous pasticceria!
But Villa Tusco is most suited to the explorers amongst us. The landscape of southern Tuscany is a real varied and colourful vista of vineyards, olive groves, dense forests and steep valleys, well planned little towns and villages interspersed with large open fields of all shades and colour. One of the better ways to see it all is by bike, with some fantastic cycle routes for the amateur and the professional.
Just a mere 200m away are the vineyards of Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany’s most famous DOCG. This full bodied dry wine is grown on the vines covering 2000 hectares across the valleys of Orcia, Asso and Ombrone and is a real must when staying at Tusco.
Peer through the trees and you will spot the picturesque town of Montalcino perched high above the vineyards. Dating back to the middle ages, it invites you to step back in time as you wonder through the fortress, the church and municipal palazzo.
For those who enjoy their Italian cheeses, head to Pienza famous for its Pecorino cheese. But there is more to this Renaissance town than a mild flavour and nutty overtones..... this little ‘utopia’ is said to represent one of the best planned Renaissance towns in Italy and the Duomo of Pienza, the Palazzo and its gardens are definitely worth visiting and learn of its religious roots.
Ideally located to head a little south and explore the lakes of Northern Lazio, Sinalunga is to the east and to the north is the art city of Siena only 40kms away.
