August 2014 "...We certainly enjoyed our stay at Casa Francescana in August - it was such a relief to book somewhere on the Wednesday and be there on the Saturday! Daniella was very welcoming, although I’m not sure what happens if you don’t speak Italian (I think her daughter does speak English, but I don’t mind staggering along in mock Italian, which seemed to be good enough! We had a lovely extended conversation before I left, and she showed me photos of all the family, and pictures drawn by her grandsons too). The apartment was great, although I do have the following feedback which may be useful: we got the impression that it’s probably also used as a bed and breakfast facility, because there is no sitting room, and the only communal room is the kitchen which is not great for family relaxation really. It was ok for us and our teenage daughter, but we might have expected something different another time. It could have become a bit of a strain if the weather had not improved during the week. Also, the hall light was on a very short timer setting, so rapidly turned itself off, which was slightly inconvenient. Otherwise, it was an easy apartment to look after, and very well kept, with comfortable beds and a lovely terrace. I enjoyed the feeling that we were sort of living in the middle of Italian family life (her daughter lived below us with two small boys), and the other family staying in the other apartment were very friendly, so it was easy sharing the lovely pool with them. I can certainly recommend the area as a location for a great holiday - but then I would always say that about Italy! So, thank you so much for all your help with booking such a last minute holiday - you helped turn the corner of what had been a difficult year for us as a family, and you found us a great apartment with no fuss, so I really appreciate how reliable your company has been, again! July 2012 "... Dear Sarah & Daniella, Thankyou so much for our wonderful holiday in Umbria. We had waited a long time to make this trip, and had a lot of hope and dreams invested in it, and we were not disappointed :). Senora Pieroni was wonderfully welcoming, and the cottage was every bit as lovely as promised, set as it is with amazing views across the valley. From the first evening, when we sat sat sipping our wine on the roof terrace watching a fabulous sunset, we were completely sold. The area was exactly what we were looking for, and we had plenty of opportunity to get a flavour of Italy at it's best, away from the heavily tourist oriented trails of Tuscany. Daniella's advice that even a basic attempt at speaking the language would be much appreciated and would add to the enjoyment of the holiday was absolutely spot-on, and even our very novice efforts were met with beaming smiles and very rewarding trips to local hosteria's and deli's, which really made the holiday, for me especially. The strongest memories which we take away with us, are the fabulous panoramic views from the wonderful pool terrace, and spotting a family of wild boar in a field of oats far below, the amazing local meats and cheeses recommended by a wonderful lady in a deli which quickly became a regular port of call, and warmth of the welcome which we received from Senora Pieroni and her family. Many Many Thanks, Alison Parsons"

July 2012 "...We (4 adults and 2 children) have just returned from 2 weeks at Casa Francescana 2, a wonderful holiday that none of us wanted to come home from. The setting is so beautiful, both the views and the house and gardens. The pool is gorgeous with the best view a pool could possibly have. The location is also great on the slopes of Monte Subasio and near Assisi, which is a really beautiful town with much to see and do. And as well as all this Dancalia and her family were extremely welcoming and friendly hosts. We would definitely recommend Casa Francescana 2 and would love to return ourselves."

August 2011 "...Our family (2 adults and 2 children, boys aged 12 and 14) had a wonderful time at Casa Franscescana 2. The location, in the mountain above Assisi, was stunning and provided the perfect base for exploring Umbria. So many charming towns and villages within easy reach by car, from beautiful Assisi (15 minutes drive), to Spello (a particular favourite with a world-class restaurant, La Bastiglia), to Bavagna, Todi, Montefalco, Perugia and many more. The villa itself was comfortable, had a lovely terrace from which we could gaze across the valley whilst sipping wine from one of the local vineyards (check out the relaxed and high-quality tasting to be had at the Dionigi vineyard near Bavagna, but there are loads of similar places) and very welcome pool, situated below the property with a panoramic view of the hillside. We stayed for 2 weeks from 6 August 2011, so it was pretty hot, although, as the property was up the mountain, it was cooler than in the valley. One suggestion we would have would be to provide fans in the rooms, as they do not have air conditioning. That said, we quickly adapted, and were able to leave the windows open without being plagued by mosquitos. In fact, the absence of mossies was a very welcome surprise throughout the holiday. Don’t they have them in Umbria?!? Wonderful as the apartment and location were, however, the most precious aspect of Casa Francesca, and the part that we will remember longest I suspect, was the warmth of the welcome we received from the owner, Dancalia, and her family. They were genuinely tremendous hosts and transformed a good holiday into a great one. Thank you! "

June 2011 "...Hi Sarah, Our accommodation at Casa Francescana 1 & 2 was the highlight of our entire 8 week holiday in Italy. Our host Dancalia is a very friendly, welcoming woman who, on arrival, even baked a tradional cake for both of our families to enjoy. She was always on hand to help if needed and we quickly became friends. The villa's were both very spacious and clean and the gardens were amazing. It is obvious that the garden is a labour of love for Dancalia. The location of the villa's is spectacular and every evening we enjoyed watching the sunset and the beautiful rolling hills from our "terrazza". It was the perfect accommodation for our families because there was so much "room to roam". The children loved spending time with all of the cats and we all saw fireflies for the first time as we don't have them in Australia - what a treat. We also enjoyed our walks in the National Park and the beautiful pool area. All in all it was a magical experience in Assisi and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I hope to come back soon! August 2010 "...We found Casa Francescana perfect. The owners were so friendly and helpful and the villa was as gorgeous as in the pictures. The villa was furnished with all of our needs and we couldn't have enjoyed our stay more."

August 2010 "...We had a very good time at Casa Francescana, the host was helpful and the description was accurate. The best was the pool and helpful in having some toys for children to play with. If I were to suggest any improvement, they consider installing an oven if possible (table top one would do) rather than just a microwave"
